With much awaited anticipation, the Part 1 was finally released on 24th of Sept 2019. We were instructed to make 8 squares this week. And I somehow managed to finish it on time.
Gates

This week’s pattern was quite simple and easy to follow. Sandra described the square as ‘GATES’ as it reminds her of the gates and fences along the edges of the fields where she walk. We were instructed to make 8 GATES. And those who bought the CAL pack from Black Sheep Wools, got a bonus pattern, called ‘BUTTERFLY’. They were instructed to make 4 GATES and 4 BUTTERFLIES. Honestly, I was quite jealous of this, because the butterflies looked so pretty! And now there are 5 more bonus squares to be released. I am gonna miss a hell lot!
Steam Blocking

I am using Scheepjes Stone Washed for the first time. To be honest, I am not a big fan of acrylic yarns and acrylic blends (This yarn is 78% Cotton and 22% Acrylic). But this yarn totally surprised me. It is very smooth to use, and the texture is lovely. The only kind-of drawback I found out was, this yarn needs blocking. I do not have any blocking tools with me, but I found out about this steam blocking recently. It is very easy to perform, and the result is amazing! All you need is an iron box, towels and a few pins.

Happy CALing!

I’m a recent convert to the wonders of steam blocking myself 😀
